About David
David Darcy is the best-selling author–photographer of Mongrel Country published by Lothian Books in 2001, Outback Mongrel published in 2003, and is currently finishing off the third book in the series for release November 2005. For the past four years his work has been on display in his dog gallery in Leura, Blue Mountains. His photography is in private collections world-wide, his images appear regularly in local, regional and major newspapers and magazines. David and his beloved dogs have featured widely on national and international television. David has worked in conjunction with  RSPCA Australia and Master-foods Pedigree in running successful promotions, and has recently shot the nation advertising campaign with his dogs for Mongrel Boots.

David has traveled extensively through-out Australia and parts of the world for the past five years with his dogs in search of locations for his unique style of photography. In this time David has accumulated a library of more than 5000 dog photos that are truly vast and varied. He has recently returned from his  latest expedition of Australia undertaken in Autumn 2004. This adventure focused on collecting images in various formats from digital stills and film stills as well as DV Pro Video for documentary purposes. The journey encompassed all the mainland states of Australia and totaled 16500 kilometers with the start and finish being in The Blue Mountains.

David Darcy was born in May 1972 in Springwood, Blue mountains. He was taught the fundamentals of photography by his father Terence at an early age, and by 16 had won the NSW junior Top Shot Award. At 17 Davids work was being accepted into national photographic exhibitions and he was winning professional photographic competitions. In 1999 David combined his love of dogs, his sense of adventure and his creative use of the camera, and set a new path in Australian photography. Refreshing, down to earth and without equal David Darcy's photography has  captured the hearts and imaginations of thousands of dog lovers, artist, adventures, country folk and city slickers across the nation.
